Getting started

Before we started the garden, the space was an 8 x 100 foot strip of dirt in our parking lot with a couple satellite dishes in it. There was a lot of digging and leveling, and then we received a generous donation from our waste disposal vendor, Republic Services

They brought us a load of compost – the “good stuff” they deemed it – and with it the hope that this neglected stretch of dirt might actually grow something.

A little research taught us that good compost is so potent that you only need an inch or two tilled 4-6 inches into the beds. Many, MANY wheel barrow loads later, we tilled the compost into the dirt that was already there and we were pretty much ready to plant.

THANK YOU REPUBLIC SERVICES!!!
